Harvest is the fourth album by the Canadian musician Neil Young, released on February 14, 1972 on Reprise Records, catalogue MS 2032. It featured the London Symphony Orchestra on two tracks and vocals by noted guests David Crosby, Graham Nash, Linda Ronstadt, Stephen Stills, and James Taylor. It topped the Billboard 200 album chart for two weeks, and spawned two hit singles, "Old Man", which peaked at #31 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "Heart of Gold", which reached #1. It was the best-selling album of 1972 in the United States. One of the most influential artists of all time, Neil Young has set a standard of artistic integrity and iconoclastic creativity. Before starting his multi-platinum solo career, he was a founding member of the folk-rock band Buffalo Springfield and worked with the groups Crazy Horse and Crosby, Stills and Nash. The Canadian singer-songwriter was recognized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 for his work as a solo artist and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1982. Young's philanthropic work is as renowned as his musical legacy. His famous Bridge School Benefit Concert has become a yearly tradition since 1986 and continues to boast an incredible line-up of high-profile artists. Each year, Young donates all of the proceeds to the Bay Area's Bridge School, which assists children with severe physical impairments and complex communication needs. He was also one of the original founders of Farm Aid in 1985, and continues to be an active member on the organization's board of directors.

On The Beach [Vinyl]

ON SALE $29.98 Vinyl: $27.29 Buy

MP3 Album: $9.99 Download

Vinyl LP pressing. On the Beach is the fifth studio album by Neil Young, released in 1974. Recorded after (but released before) Tonight's the Night, On The Beach shares some of that album's bleakness and crude production-which came as a shock to fans and critics alike, as this was the long-awaited studio follow-up to the commercially and critically successful Harvest-but also included hints pointing towards a more subtle outlook, particularly on the opener, "Walk On". Much like Tonight's The Night, On The Beach was not a commercial success at the time of it's release but over time attained a high regard from fans and critics alike. The album was recorded in a haphazard manner, with Young utilizing a variety of session musicians, and often changing their instruments while offering only bare-bones arrangements for them to follow (in a similar style to Tonight's The Night). He also would opt for rough, monitor mixes of songs rather than a more polished sound.

Neil Young puts it best: “This album is the unheard bridge between Harvest and Comes a Time”.

Recorded between June 1974 and January 1975, Homegrown was intended to come out in 1975 before Neil cancelled the release. The album has remained unreleased until now, achieving a legendary status among Neil Young fans in the process.

The album is made up of twelve Neil Young songs, of which seven are previously unreleased - “Separate Ways,” “Try,” “Mexico,” “Kansas,” We Don’t Smoke It No More,” “Vacancy” and “Florida” (a spoken word narration). Also included are the first recordings of “Love Is A Rose,” “Homegrown,” “White Line, “Little Wing,” and “Star Of Bethlehem” – different versions of which would all later appear on other Neil Young albums.

Neil plays solo on some tracks (guitar, piano and harmonica), and is joined by a band of friends on other tracks, including Levon Helm, Ben Keith, Karl T Himmel, Tim Drummond, Emmylou Harris and Robbie Robertson.

Recorded in analog, and mastered from the original master tapes, this long-lost album is a wonderful addition to Neil’s incomparable catalog.

Songs For Judy [2LP]

ON SALE $39.98 Vinyl: $36.39 Buy

MP3 Album: $12.99 Download

Songs For Judyis the debut release on Shakey Pictures Records, Young’s own imprint distributed by Reprise Records.

Songs For Judy is a thoroughly engaging collection of live acoustic performances culled from Neil's November 1976 solo tour and features twenty-two songs recorded at various cities along the tour. This song cycle of live recordings is particularly powerful and unique. Young had spent much of the year traveling around the world on tour with Crazy Horse. When touring on his own, he recharged and focused on songs that would not surface in recorded form for several years. Of the albums many treasures, "No One Seems To Know" would not see the light of day until now and it remains unreleased in any other iteration.

The raw versions of the tracks found on Songs For Judy reflect an artist completely unvarnished and unafraid to allow the songs to breath and to find their own shape when performed in a solo setting. Songs written in that era would come into focus and then seemingly disappear only to re-enter Young's orbit somewhere down the road. "White Line" and "Give Me Strength" are such examples of finding the light in 1990 and 2017 respectively. It's also fascinating to hear Young revisit early gems such as Springfield's "Mr. Soul" ('67), "Here We Are In The Years" ('68), and "The Losing End" ('69) from some of his earliest solo recordings which remain as timeless as ever.

ON SALE $24.98 Vinyl: $22.74 Buy

MP3 Album: $9.99 Download

Vinyl LP pressing. Time Fades Away is a 1973 live album by Neil Young, consisting of previously unreleased material. It was Young's first live album, and was recorded with The Stray Gators on the tour following 1972's highly successful Harvest and has not been reissued on CD due to Young's dissatisfaction with that particular series of concerts. Time Fades Away received much critical praise. Though "Love In Mind" dates from a 1971 solo tour (on the January 30 date of the tour, from which "The Needle and the Damage Done" on Harvest was sourced), all other songs on the album were from recordings made during a 62-date tour in early 1973 that featured an acoustic set with Young followed by an electric set with backing band the Stray Gators.

Young Shakespeare [LP]

ON SALE $29.98 Vinyl: $27.29 Buy

MP3 Album: $11.49 Download

Just two months after the release of his seminal album After The Gold Rush, Neil Young played a solo show at The Shakespeare Theater, Stratford, CT on January 22 1971. The show was filmed and recorded, and the concert shown on German TV later in 1971.

In 2020, while Neil and his team were reviewing his Archive for future projects, Neil re-visited the 16mm film and audio recording of this show that had been preserved in the Archive for almost 50 years. Piecing together the tapes and footage, Neil realized that he had the full concert – the film of which is the earliest live footage of Neil performing that is known to exist.

Neil has written on NYA that this show is “superior to our beloved “Massey Hall”. A more calm performance, without the celebratory atmosphere of Massey Hall, captured live on 16mm. “Young Shakespeare” is a very special event. To my fans, I say this is the best ever.”

As an insight into Neil’s prolific song writing at the time, the concert features two songs from the recently released After The Gold Rush but four songs from the classic Harvest album that was still over a year away from being released. The wonderful set list also includes acoustic renditions of favorites such as “Ohio”, “Cowgirl In the Sand”, “Helpless”, “Down By The River” and “Sugar Mountain”.

The ancient analog tapes have been lovingly restored – resulting in (as Neil says on NYA) “one of the most pure sounding acoustic performances we have in the Archive”.

This beautiful concert is being released on LP and CD, plus a deluxe boxed edition that includes both LP and CD and, for the first time ever, a DVD of the concert.

Young Shakespeare is being released almost exactly 50 years after the original performance.

Vinyl LP pressing. 2017 archive release from the iconic singer/songwriter. The songs on Hitchhiker were recorded in a single night with the intent of being released as an album. In his memoir Special Deluxe, Young described the session, It was a complete piece, although I was pretty stony on it, and you can hear it in my performances... I laid down all the songs in a row, pausing only for weed, beer, or coke. Briggs was in the control room, mixing live on his favorite console. Many of the songs surfaced on Young albums American Stars 'n Bars, Decade, Comes a Time, Rust Never Sleeps, Hawks & Doves, and Le Noise, albeit in different forms. Hitchhiker also contains a pair of never-before-released songs: Hawaii and Give Me Strength, which Young has occasionally performed live.

Roxy: Tonight's The Night Live [2LP]

ON SALE $34.98 Vinyl: $31.84 Buy

MP3 Album: $11.49 Download

Double vinyl LP pressing. Live archive release from the rock icon. Roxy - Tonight's The Night Live is one of the most sought-after recordings from his vast archives. This was the first public performance of many of the songs that would make up Young's seminal album Tonight's The Night, which would not be released until June 1975. The album's final track "Walk On" would not appear until the release of On The Beach, in July 1974. Young would be the first artist to christen the stage at what would become one of the world's great clubs, The Roxy Theater on the riotous Sunset Strip, right next door to the already infamous Rainbow Bar & Grille. The shows took place on September 20-22, 1973. Produced by Young and the late David Briggs, these resultant recordings were mixed by John Nowland with updated post-production and mastering by John Hanlon - along with Chris Bellman - at Bernie Grundman Mastering using the original analog master tape source. Close your eyes and you'll be right there in that dark, smoky, 500 capacity room in West, L.A. on a hot summer night in 1973. Tonight's The Night would go on to be named one of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time, and universally praised for it's dark honesty and unapologetic raw delivery. The very same can be said for Roxy - Tonight's The Night Live.

Comes A Time [LP]

ON SALE $24.98 Vinyl: $22.74 Buy

Limited 140gm vinyl LP pressing. Comes a Time is the ninth album by Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young, released in 1978. It is a return to the country/folk rock sound of Harvest (1972). "Comes a Time" is also the title song and a single release from the album. The album originally started out as a solo record, but when Young played it for Reprise executives they asked him if he would consider adding rhythm tracks to what he already had. Young agreed, and the end product was Comes a Time. Two songs ("Look Out For My Love" and "Lotta Love") were backed by Crazy Horse, resulting in them having a distinctively raw sound compared to the smooth production of the rest of the album. "Human Highway" was written several years prior to the album's release, and originally presented to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young in 1974 for a proposed studio album by the group which never came to be. Much of the album features harmony vocals from Nicolette Larson. She also shares lead vocals with Young on "Motorcycle Mama".

In the summer of 1976, Young rekindled his partnership with Stephen Stills, resulting in a tour that ended abruptly and an album. He then embarked on his second tour of the year with Crazy Horse, but spent the first half of 1977 off the road. MP3 Album: $9.99 Download

Neil Young reteams with Promise of the Real for a new album titled The Visitor, their second studio LP together following 2015's The Monsanto Years. From 'Time Fades Away II' to 'Homegrown' and Crazy Horse's killer 2003 Bonnaroo set, a look at the best of Young's overflowing vault the album, due out December 1st, comes just three months after Young released Hitchhiker, his long-lost LP of acoustic songs recorded over one night in August 1976. Young and Promise of the Real also shared the album's first single "Already Great," a rumbling, tongue-in-cheek response to Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again" campaign slogan. The singer previously denied Trump's use of "Rockin' in the Free World" during the 2016 presidential campaign and roared "Fuck you, Donald Trump" onstage during a June 2016 concert. "You're already great / You're the promised land / You're the helping hand," Young sings to the U.S. on the chorus. The track ends with a repeated chant of "Whose streets? Our streets!," a popular rallying cry at recent protests.
