Canadian woodwind quintet Ventus Machina celebrates it's 15th anniversary with 'Very Ventus Christmas!" it's fourth album and a collection drawn from nearly a decade of music created for the ensemble's annual holiday concert series. One of the group's most popular and meaningful traditions, the series brings together familiar favourites and music from around the world, reflecting the memories, customs, and experiences that shape the holiday season. Arrangements by clarinetist and in-house arranger James Kalyn place a distinctive Ventus Machina stamp on beloved seasonal repertoire, while selections chosen by the ensemble's members reflect personal traditions and memories from Sweden, Colombia, Hawaii, and beyond. Joined by a string quintet, which the ensemble calls a 'lush pocket orchestra,' and four guest vocalists, Ventus Machina brings warmth, colour, and versatility to Very Ventus Christmas! Rooted in the classical woodwind quintet tradition, the ensemble is known throughout Maritime Canada for dynamic performances that embrace an eclectic range of styles through original arrangements and collaborations with artists across the region. Their work has earned multiple MusicNB Award nominations, including Album of the Year, an East Coast Music Award nomination, as well as the 2018 MusicNB Award for Classical Artist of the Year.
