Originally released over 30 years ago on August 21, 1987, the collection features the band covering songs by early Metallica influencers such as Diamond Head, Holocaust, Killing Joke, Budgie, and The Misfits. The five songs from the EP were later included as a part of the 1998 multi-platinum release Garage, Inc., but the band felt it was time to bring it back in the original formats!

Abhoria was created by guitarist Vor (aka Trevor Portz of Ashen Horde) as a way to satiate his appetite to play classic, aggressive black metal. Recruiting some top-notch players from the L.A. metal underground to join him, he rounded out the band with vocalist Walthrax (ex- Catheter) and bassist Koszmar (Vimana). The band quickly got to work on their debut album with engineer Shane Howard (Vale of Pnath, Martriden, Helleborus), and the result is a black metal album that harks back to the 90s black metal scene, but with modern production. While "Mountebank" is a relentless blitz of high-speed black metal, closing track "Sunless" is a seven-minute epic that incorporates mid-paced, atmospheric grooves and clean vocals. Though the energy never relents, the album is not relentless. Abhoria is hellbent on carrying on the musical torch of the genre's founding fathers Immortal, Dark Funeral and Emperor.

Doom experimentalists Völur from Toronto and San Francisco's ever-mercurial neo-classical ambient collective Amber Asylum team up for the split release "Breaker Of Rings/Blood Witch." Both artists are driven by the vision of creating dark and heavy music built around the use of strings, yet differ in approach while beautifully complimenting one another on this release. On the a-side, Völur tell a story of alienation and trauma, a warrior's introspective hell and disability to resonate with a reality past battle. Expanding their style into radical musical niches such as funeral doom and 12-tone music, the tracks are inspired by "the Niflung cycle from the Poetic Edda, the aftermath of battles and the toll violence takes on the psyches of alleged heroes" according to bass player and singer Lucas Gadke. The material was originally conceived as one track for the trio's first album "Ancestors" (2017) but shelved "due to it's length and energy. The middle contains a piece written for a string quartet in the style of Alban Berg." Thus, "Breaker Of Rings" places the band somewhere between funeral doom and a horror movie soundtrack. Amber Asylum's b-side is a morbidly beautiful story of disease and it's victim, initiated by penetration of a female mosquito as the metaphorical "Blood Witch." Surrealistic string arrangements and voices of eerie presence enriched by relentless analog synths are painting distinctive images of discomfort and beauty, delirium and devotion, anguish and ultimate acceptance. Band leader Kris Force says the four songs are based on "early 20th century Indian love lyrics and feature performances by Grayceon's Jackie Perez Gratz on cello as well as bassist Erica Stoltz from Sanhedrin. I wanted to create something in my own voice yet sharing the same vibration as Völur's side of the split." In true Prophecy spirit, "Breaker Of Rings/Blood Witch" unites like-minded artists who share a similar vision but find very different expressions of it. If you dare to dive into these sonic seas and the depths they offer, you will find yourself in an alternating bath of joy and despair

San Francisco post-black metal outfit BOTANIST and Los Angeles based electronic project THIEF release the split-album "Cicatrix/Diamond Brush". Despite their stylistic differences, both bands have much in common. They were both conceived and are mostly recording as solo-projects run by a single mastermind. Both multi-instrumentalists recruit live members to put their music on the stage. Yet the connection between BOTANIST's Otrebor aka Roberto Martinelli and Dylan Neal from THIEF runs deeper: Dylan Neal played hammered dulcimer in the post-black metal outfit and even after officially departing from BOTANIST, he has continued to contribute as a "silent" member, for example by writing the dulcimer and bass parts for the album "Collective: The Shape of He to Come". This personal connection between both bands is reflected in the material of this split-album. BOTANIST's "Cicatrix" contains previously unreleased tracks from the recording sessions of their acclaimed full-length "VI: Flora" (2014), which is also the record that Dylan toured on, when the band went to Europe and delivered their legendary performance at the Roadburn Festival in 2015. The botanical term 'cicatrix' refers to the scarring that shows on a plant after it has been damaged and the title track points towards the damage that mankind has inflicted at the global flora. While the backbone of THIEF's sound has been formed by manipulated sacred chant and choral samples, "Diamond Brush" prominently features live drums and electric guitars for the first time on one of their records. Thematically, Dylan explores a spiritual pursuit of awakening through the experience of transgression and suffering with allusions to Joyce, Salinger, Nabokov, and Mobb Deep. Black Somnia's first print run was issued in the US as a vinyl-only edition pressing limited to 250. Through the prominence of Black Somnia's original pressing, the result is an official worldwide release through Prophecy (first time on CD & a new version of the LP). Falkenbach were originally conceived as a solo-project by Vratyas Vakyas and officially came into being with the "Laeknishendr" demo in 1995. The first regular full-length under the banner Falkenbach appeared in 1996 with the Icelandic title "... en their medh riki fara... " (1996). The extremely atmospheric album supported by keyboard and acoustic guitar was obviously influenced both by the Bathory classics "Blood Fire Death" and "Hammerheart" as well as the rising Nordic black metal tide. "... en their medh riki fara... " quickly gained cult status in the blackened pagan metal scene and still maintains a raw, emotional charm today.

Since 2016 the Olympia, WA quintet have released a string of cassettes (even a limited VHS) to the underground heavy metal and hard rock music scene. Highlights of their humble beginnings include opening for Nik Turner's Hawkwind, being featured on Radio Fenriz and performing the final year of the prestigious Wings Of Metal Fest in Montreal. Love Out Of Darkness brings a more concise and produced sound than previously recorded. Musically reminiscent of 1970's arena rock, while bringing a new depth to the genre. Waging a one-woman war, singer Jenna Fitton commands Quayde with powerful and urgent vocals. Fitton's lyrical themes range from calling out misogynist rock tropes to painting stories of swords and sacred stones. Although fantastical seeming, these latter themes are based in reality. The battles we are collectively fighting on a daily basis. Struggles of depression, oppression and suffering that humankind has wrought against itself. It's not all hopeless though. There is growth and transformation through hardship. In "Before The Storm", Fitton states that, "there is a light that shines beyond the horizon." Out of darkness, love will prevail. The time has come for unity again.

Just as Disir dealt with themes surrounding female figures from mythology, Ancestors focuses on the heroines' male counterparts and is the second part of a planned four album series spotlighting various elements of the old Germanic spiritual world. The album still evokes an overall impression of confident and experienced songwriting. Falkenbach had reached the point where they not only exactly knew their musical destination but also how to get there.
