In 2021, after he was \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eselected as the “Rising Star Tenor Saxophonist” in the Downbeat International \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eCritics Poll, Lewis issued The Jesup Wagon, his debut for Tao Forms.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAlong the way, Lewis drew the attention of many improvising artists, most no\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003etably the saxophonist and jazz deity Sonny Rollins, who doesn’t offer effusive \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003epraise very often. Moved by Lewis’ deep, spirit-seeking sound, Rollins said \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e“When I listen to you, I listen to Buddha, I listen to Confucius ... I listen to the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003edeeper meaning of life.
