Cheating At Solitaire (Vinyl)
Barcode: 888072047914
Double vinyl LP pressing. Originally released in 1999, Cheating At Solitaire is the first solo release from Social Distortion frontman, Mike Ness. The album incorporates the raw power and social relevance that has always marked Ness' music, while embracing many of the defining styles in American rock 'n' roll history. Cheating At Solitaire integrates punk, rockabilly, primitive rock and roll, country and blues while maintaining the energy that typifies Mike Ness. Among the guest contributors are Brian Setzer and Bruce Springsteen. Johnny Cash was invited to perform on the song "Ballad of a Lonely Man", but was too ill to record at the time. "Dope Fiend Blues" and "I'm In Love w/My Car" were originally written/recorded in 1994 as a demo of Social Distortion's fifth album White Light, White Heat, White Trash. Ness also originally wrote some of the songs on this album around 1997 while Social Distortion was planning their sixth album.
