Available for the first time on vinyl, this long-awaited release is pressed on 140 gram vinyl and housed in gatefold packaging with original artwork by Danny Haas and Jordan Christianson. One of the greatest superhero soundtracks of all time, Shirley Walker's monumental score for BATMAN: MASK OF THE PHANTASM is finally available on vinyl. Having previously conducted and provided additional orchestration for 1989's BATMAN, Danny Elfman collaborator Shirley Walker became one of the featured composers for BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES, a groundbreaking crime saga that redrew the boundaries of longform animated storytelling. Emmy nominated for one of her numerous episodes of work on the show, Walker was also tasked with creating a new main theme for the Caped Crusader that was used in later B: TAS episodes. Originally conceived as a made-for-TV movie, the cult classic BATMAN: MASK OF THE PHANTASM was released in theaters on Christmas Day 1993, between Seasons 1 and 2 of the series. Beautifully plotted and animated, MASK OF THE PHANTASM needed a blockbuster score to match, and Walker delivered her masterpiece... an operatic, film noir-inspired tour de force that booms, swoons and soars through the dark Gotham night. Mastered for vinyl by James Plotkin, the BATMAN: MASK OF THE PHANTASM - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack LP features artwork by Danny Haas, with gatefold artwork, design and layout by Jordan Christianson.
