Candide / O.C.R. (CD)

This is Leonard Bernstein's comic operetta based on Voltaire's classic satire. Barbara Cook made her Broadway debut in this 1956 show, as the lovely Cunegonde, the object of Candide's love. A satire about optimism in the mid-1950s failed, but it's score and brilliance have since been recognized as one of Bernstein's best.
