If Sylvie's New Season were a movie, Ben Schwab would be the auteur, screenwriting and directing the vision, articulating his story through a cast of actors. In truth, New Season is a record of the freewheeling country-rock variety, Sylvie's first with Ghostly International, and it finds the Los Angeles-based artist at the helm of a rotating ensemble, arriving at pure, joyous expression and renewed faith in the face of hardship. While Schwab constructed that 2021 project mainly with friends in his orbit, stemming from his time playing in Drugdealer's band and other peripheral projects, he has broadened the scope tenfold for his full-length debut, New Season.
