(Re) Planting By The Signs - [LP]

The (Re) Planting by the Signs 12" vinyl is the physical companion to S.G. Goodman's acclaimed 2025 studio album Planting by the Signs on Slough Water Records / Thirty Tigers. The 6-track EP expands the Planting by the Signs universe with demos and reimagined versions of album tracks, as well as Goodman's refreshing cover of “Pepper,” the beloved track from Butthole Surfers’ 1996 album Electriclarryland. Goodman’s swinging rendition filters the song’s deadpan surrealism and hypnotic groove through her own Western Kentucky lens, a testament to her fearless range as an artist and vocalist. Elsewhere, the album presents a cover of “I’m In Love” by renowned American Folk legend Dan Reeder, and fellow Kentuckians Senora May and Tyler Childers performing their rendition of album title track, “Planting By The Signs.” Once again, through songs inspired by love, loss, reconciliation, and the ancient practice of planting by the signs, Goodman and friends provide another timely reminder that the only way forward is together, and that we must always take into account humanity’s dependence on and responsibility to the natural world.
