Locked up in Sing Sing and awaiting execution, violent criminal Thunderbolt Jim Lang (George Bancroft) seethes over the knowledge that his girl Ritzy (Fay Wray) is the object of affection of bank clerk Bob Moran (Richard Arlen). He frames the innocent Moran for robbery and murder, getting him put in a nearby cell. Can Thunderbolt rub out his new fellow inmate before his own number comes up?
