Led by the chart-topping title track, which reached No. 1 in the US, and featuring the enduring classic "Season of the Witch," this landmark 1966 release was Donovan's first album for Epic and a breakthrough work that marked a decisive departure from his earlier folk image. Blending medieval-inspired lyrics with his Celtic musical roots and Indian influences, the album helped pioneer the emerging psychedelic era with remarkable originality and vision. It also features guitar contributions from Jimmy Page, then still working as a session musician. The album reached No. 11 in the US, and this edition is produced from a reproduction of the original US A-style LP jacket, with three bonus tracks scheduled for inclusion.
