Brahms's three violin sonatas provide a natural meeting point for this unique collaboration between father and son, shaped by the close and equal dialogue between violin and piano. Together, they trace a path from the inward lyricism of the G major Sonata, Op. 78, through the warmth of the A major, Op. 100, to the darker, more dramatic world of the D minor Sonata, Op. 108, whose finale ranks among Brahms's most powerful chamber works.
